Property Law & Conveyancing

We advise on all aspects of purchasing and selling both residential and commercial property. We also advise on voluntary transfers of property (i.e. transfers of property to another (usually a close family member) as a gift during his/her lifetime. Criminal Law

Criminal law is a very broad area of law. It can vary from relatively minor offences (e.g. failing to pay a T.V. licence) to the most serious of offences (homicide). It is important to remember that just because you are accused of having committed a crime it does not automatically mean that you are guilty of that crime or that you can be successfully prosecuted for it.

Whatever the nature of the offence, it is important that you contact a solicitor at the earliest opportunity possible because often what occurs or what is said at the early part of a criminal investigation can have a great impact on the case at a later stage.

If you are arrested, you have a right to consult with a solicitor before being questioned. If you are served with a summons or charge sheet, contact your solicitor immediately and arrange a consultation. Bring the summons or charge sheet(s) with you together with any other documentation given to you by the Gardai. It will also be very helpful if you keep a good record of what happened noting times and dates as best as you can remember.

Litigation

Litigation is where a dispute arises between two opposing parties and legal proceedings are brought to court to determine the outcome of that dispute. Bankruptcy & Insolvency

Jennings & Co. Solicitors have considerable experience in bankruptcy and insolvency matters. Our principal, Brian Jennings has appeared before the High Court on numerous occasions on behalf of both creditors (seeking to have an individual declared bankrupt for failure to pay debts) and debtors (seeking the court’s protection from creditors). In 2011 he successfully represented debtors before the High Court against a financial institution in relation to illegally charged interest which resulted in the debtor’s overall debt being reduced by almost €250,000.

In addition, Brian has delivered talks to the solicitor bar associations in both Mayo and Galway on Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law related matters.
